Who We Are

With the help of dedicated volunteers, the Marin AARP Tax-Aide program provides free tax counseling and preparation services to low and middle income taxpayers, with special attention to those ages 60 and older. Our success in Marin County for 2015 allowed us to prepare 2,500 tax returns at our 6 AARP locations that resulted in refunds of almost $1.5 million dollars, plus an additional 35 tax returns at special Saturday sites managed by our community partners. Our goal for 2016 is to reach out to an even larger number of families in preparing their tax returns and assisting in solving tax issues that may arise. AARP Tax Aide has served Marin County for over 25 years.

What We Do

Marin AARP Tax-Aide provides a comprehensive tax-help and preparation service for residents of Marin county. Our sites are open during the tax season each year beginning on February 1st and ending on April 15th. Tax Preparation assistance includes electronic filing (e-file), a fast and convenient method for filing both federal and state taxes. Low and middle income residents of all ages are welcome to take advantage of this free service. The Tax-Aide program's funding sources include the Internal Revenue Service, AARP Foundation, and private contributions. Marin county residents graciously volunteer their time each year to make this program a success. Teaming with the United Way of the Bay Area and local non-profit partners gives us an opportunity to reach out further to residents of Marin with special Saturday events tailored to low income families. We have five convenient sites to serve Marin County: Mill Valley Community Center, San Rafael Community Center, Fairfax Library, Novato Human Needs Center, Margaret Todd Senior Center in Novato and Marin Nonprofit Resource Center near Northgate. We offer the convenience of appointments. Taxpayers may call 415-320-6191 or e--mail us at, leaving their name and phone number and we do the rest.
