Bridge The Gap College Prep is a college preparatory and youth development organization whose mission is to provide comprehensive educational support to the students of Marin City, with the goal that every Marin City student graduates high school and completes college.
Bridge the Gap College Prep has been working with Marin City youth in grades 1-12 for 17 years. We operate 4 distinct tutoring programs: Extended Learning Day, High School, Evening One on One and Little Readers (summer only).
We run our Extended Learning Day Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 3:30-5:30, and Wednesday from 2:30-4:30. Credentialed teachers provide a rigorous college prep curriculum as well as homework support to students grouped by grades: 4-8. Our teachers, with the support of committed volunteer tutors/mentors, offer individualized and small group instruction and project based learning techniques. Volunteers are requested to commit to one afternoon a week for a semester or the school year.
In our One on One Evening Program, which runs Mondays and Tuesdays 6:30-7:30, students and volunteer tutor/mentors are thoughtfully matched as a working partnership for one hour, one night per week. Two credentialed teachers circulate among the tutor/student pairs, providing individualized academic and homework support. The tutor/student responsibilities include: developing a productive relationship of trust, consistent communication and mutual support.
The High School Program runs Monday through Thursday from 4:30-7:30. Students and volunteer tutors work together, one hour a week, with the strong support of 5 credentialed high school teachers, to enhance both academic and life skills in a small class setting.
