Mill Valley Philharmonic

Who We Are

The mission of Mill Valley Philharmonic is to enrich the cultural life of our region by offering free orchestral programs, from masterworks to world premieres, to people of all ages and means in their own communities. As an organization, we believe that music is a vital part of individual and community life. Whether participating as a player or as a listener, music engages our imaginative powers, awakens our aesthetic sensibilities, and inspires our creative expression. Experiencing music as a community unites our spirits and voices.

What We Do

  • We provide a community of dedicated amateur musicians -- 50 auditioned players plus a music director/conductor -- the opportunity to rehearse and perform orchestral repertoire. We strive to demonstrate artistic excellence in all that we do.
  • We bring three different concert programs each year (November/March/June) to people in their own communities in Marin County. We collaborate with other cultural partners and community organizations to advance our mutual artistic growth.
  • We include audience education in every performance to expand the audience’s enjoyment and understanding of the music, both classical and contemporary.
  • We are committed to innovative programming as a vital part of the community orchestra. To amplify the connection between artist and audience, Mill Valley Philharmonic engages local soloists and composers.
  • We have been recognized locally and nationally during our 16 years as an organization, growing from a "start up" to an established member of the Marin community.
