Description of the organization:

Bay Area and Hawaii-based All One Ocean, a Project of Earth Island Institute, was founded by Hallie Iglehart in 2010 after encountering a seagull entangled in fishing line on her daily beach walk. Iglehart untangled the bird, but knew her work wasn’t finished and she developed a simple yet powerful tool – Beach Clean Up Stations, which have been used to remove over 1.1 million pieces of trash since their inception. Since 2011, All One Ocean has installed over 37 Beach Clean Up Stations in California, Hawaii, Iowa and Alabama. Each year our Beach Clean Up Station Program educates 55,000 people/year about marine pollution and inspires them to reduce their waste. With the success of our Beach Clean Up Stations we are expanding into School Clean Up Stations in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Summary:
The position of Development Intern will be for at least 6-9 months, with the potential of renewal, based on performance. This internship will provide you with substantial experience in nonprofit development and management; grant writing, researching donor prospects, and solicitation strategies.

Connect Children with Nature

 

"Teach children to love nature... people take care of what they love!" - Elizabeth Terwilliger

 

Learn the renowned multi-sensory teaching techniques of famed naturalist and environmentalist Elizabeth Terwilliger and share the beauty and wonder of nature with small groups (5-8) of elementary school children by leading fun hikes full of exploration and adventure. WildCare's Terwilliger Nature Guide training will teach you all about the plants, animals, habitats and ecology of Northern California and give you the opportunity to share that knowledge with eager children! All training is provided.

 

TRAINING STARTS IN AUGUST

Volunteering as a Nature Guide will not only introduce you to some of Marin and Sonoma counties' most beautiful hikes, it will also allow you to:

Meet other nature lovers and cultivate new friendships Expand your knowledge of local wildlife Experience personal and professional growth Participate in continued learning Be invited to special WildCare events

This extensive training, provided over 7 classroom/field sessions and one required field trip shadowing session - indoors and outdoors - starts after orientation. Throughout the training, WildCare's naturalists and guest speakers will share expertise on plants and animals in their different habitats, and early Native Americans' relationship to the land. There is a nominal fee to cover the training and materials. Once training is completed, WildCare asks Nature Guides to commit to a minimum of two 3-hour hikes a month, scheduled in advance. All hikes take place on weekdays during the school year. WildCare's next orientation is Saturday August 5, 2017 from 11am-12:30pm at WildCare in San Rafael.

We are thrilled to be opening a communications and community engagement internship position for Ocean Conservation Research, a research and policy development organization focused on marine bio-acoustics and the impacts of human generated noise on marine life.

Tasks involve managing social media, media and biological research, writing, outreach, and communication with the public, ocean advocates, and the press. Skills you will develop include communications research and implementation, community outreach, and social networking campaign development. You will cultivate connections in environmental conservation and advocacy communities. Strong communication skills are a must, a willingness and excitement about the learning process, and a dedication to engaging the next generation in addressing the needs of our ocean.

You will get expert training from environmental and communications consultants, interface with an enthusiastic public, and work with marine conservation professionals. You will also develop skills in SalesForce Client Relationship Management software, Vertical Response campaigns, and WordPress website design.

Bay area residents are preferred. Our office is in San Rafael - which we like to keep lively.

We strive to improve stability, quality of life and community connection through a variety of different social services that provide the foundation to develop life skills. Our programs support clients through financial management, career coaching, child care support, energy assistance, better nutrition, advocacy and support for families living with mental illness and overall improvement of standard of living in Marin.

CAM's central kitchen prepares all of the meals for Head Start and CAM Child Development programs each day. Located in Central San Rafael, the state of the art kitchen, under the supervision of a licensed nutritionist, prepares breakfast, lunch and snacks for over 700 children in over thirty classrooms throughout Marin County.

The CENTRAL KITCHEN is a crucial part of the programs that are provided through Community action Marin. Families and children are supported through learning and experiencing good nutrition.


The CENTRAL KTICHEN needs your help, they need volunteers to come in on weekedays from 9:00 - 11:00 to help prep the meals!!! This is a critical way that people could help the children in the community and contribute to an amazing program and learn firsthand how many students are being served through our kitchen and our child development programs.

This can be a one time commitment or an ongoing commitment, we are open to whatever experience you would like. This is also great for groups, or families, or half-day corporate engagement projects. This will be a great experience and an amazing help to Community Action Marin. Thank you in advance!

Volunteer: Walk for Animals - A Benefit for Napa Humane

The animals need YOU! 

Volunteers needed for Walk for Animals 2017 - a fun Napa Humane event and leisurely walk through Downtown Napa (with or without a pooch!) in support of pets throughout the Napa Valley. This short walk goes miles and miles for animals!  The Walk will begin in Oxbow Commons and take the Walkers on a tour of Napa's Riverfront.

Volunteers are needed everywhere from Set-up (6:00 am – 7:30 am) to Registration/Check-in (7:00 am – 9:00 am) to Breakdown (11am till done). There are opportunities for volunteers to staff booths (7am to Noon), direct walkers along the route (8am to 10:30) and much more. Volunteer: Astronomy Nights - Mt Tam State Park

Come help out with Astronomy Nights at the Mt Theater - Mt Tam State Park. Astronomy Nights are monthly from April though October occurring on the Saturday evening close to the new moon.
