At Make-A-Wish, we grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. While our chapter's office is based in Oakland, we are looking for bilingual volunteers in all Bay Area counties, to help grant wishes for families whose primary language is Spanish. Our Spanish-language families are waiting on average 60% longer for a team than for English-language families, and we are seeking to shorten that wait.
Wish Granters are volunteers who visit the families and interview the children to find out what they want to wish for. When the wishes are ready to happen, the wish granters use their creativity to find ways to "reveal" and "enhance" the wish experience, to make the experience special.

Are you looking for a way to support older adults in your community?
Social Call volunteers are paired with an older adult for weekly friendly visits. As a Social Call volunteer you'll provide social support and friendship, connecting with the same older adult once a week by phone.
Social Call volunteers find that being a Friendly Visitor is a super rewarding experience and many develop long-term friendships with their older adult match.
Social Call volunteers:
• receive training and ongoing support
• are matched with an adult 60 years or older, a person who wants to connect with you!
• form a friendship with an older adult participant and commit to one call per week for at least 6 months
• are background checked; we cover the cost
Volunteer training scheduled regularly. For more information, please contact Casey O'Neill at email@example.com or 415-535-7741.
