The Education Station Volunteer will help staff the Education Station, located next to the Information Booth, and oversee kid-friendly edu-tainment activities promoting love of fruits, vegetables and farmers markets!
Tuesdays April 2 through September 24, 2019
Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Will have experience and enjoy working with kids
Must be able to do light lifting and comfortable working outside
Spanish language skills a plus
Set up the Education Station between 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
Staff the Education Station during market hours 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Support Story Time 9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. – 11:00a.m. (read stories if there is no volunteer)
Conduct the Harvest of the Month Produce Tasting
Follow healthy practices during produce tasting preparation, serving and clean up
Lead fruit and veggie-centered play (coloring, chalk art, origami, art projects, etc.) with kids between Story Time and Produce Tasting
Help keep the Education Station area and materials clean, sanitary and organized
Pack up the Education Station between 12:45 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Downtown Streets Team (DST) is ending homelessness by bringing dignity back to our unhoused neighbors through a work-experience program. DST is creating a mobile shower program, the first of its kind in Marin, and we need volunteers in order to ensure the program runs smoothly.We are looking for a greeter, bilingual preferred, two volunteers to help distribute towels/soap/shampoo and bring clients to the showers, two volunteers to distribute towels and keep track of time and a volunteer to manage parking.

Volunteers find their visits highly rewarding and many develop long-term relationships with their older adult match. This connection is based on the idea that both the volunteer and participant have much to give to one another, ensuring a reciprocal bond. We encourage volunteers to embrace the experience and stories that come with aging, as it’s sure to give you a unique perspective!
Social Call volunteers:
Receive training in interpersonal and listening skills. Trainings are held regularly and last about 2 hours.
Are matched with an older adult to whom you will provide friendly companionship and a compasionate presence.
Visit with their match once a week, for an hour or 2, at a time that works for both of you. Matches are based on location, common interests, and availability.
Bilingual volunteers encouraged to apply.
