Social Call, a Friendly Visitor Program for Older Adults
Give the gift of your time and companionship to a senior, become a Social Call friendly visitor in Marin County.
Volunteers find their visits highly rewarding and many develop long-term relationships with their older adult match. This connection is based on the idea that both the volunteer and participant have much to give to one another, ensuring a reciprocal bond. We encourage volunteers to embrace the experience and stories that come with aging, as it’s sure to give you a unique perspective!
Social Call volunteers:
- Receive training in interpersonal and listening skills. Trainings are held regularly and last about 2 hours.
- Are matched with an older adult to whom you will provide friendly companionship and a compasionate presence.
- Visit with their match once a week, for an hour or 2, at a time that works for both of you. Matches are based on location, common interests, and availability.
Bilingual volunteers encouraged to apply.
