Bay Area Volunteers

Organization Profile

What We Do:

Eden Housing was founded in 1968 by six community activists who were greatly concerned about the lack of non-discriminatory affordable housing in Alameda County. These pioneers, working out of makeshift β€š??headquartersβ€š?ΓΉ such as local coffee shops, were initiated into affordable housing development by rehabilitating six older homes in Oakland for first time homebuyer families. Their next project was much larger β€š?? development of the 150-unit Josephine Lum Lodge for seniors in Hayward.

Who We Are:

The mission of Eden Housing is to build and maintain high quality, well-managed, service-enhanced affordable housing communities that meet the diverse needs of lower income families, seniors, and persons with disabilities.
