Bay Area Volunteers

Organization Profile

What We Do:

We are an all-volunteer nonprofit working to improve the lives of incarcerated men through literacy and education.

Who We Are:

We hold class Monday through Friday at San Quentin State Prison. From 6 to 8:30 p.m. each evening, three tutors volunteer their time working with inmates on literacy and math, as well as other subjects. We are looking for volunteers with a passion for improving lives through education. A teaching background is not necessary. Our students are hardworking, dedicated and appreciative. We inspire them. They inspire us.
