Organization Profile

What We Do: Hooves for Harmony, Inc. is a non-profit organization that offers horse therapy to children with special needs.  Our goal is to be accessible to everyone who would benefit, so we do not define special needs, require referrals, or exclude certain diagnoses.  We offer our services for free to those who cannot afford to donate, so that everyone can benefit.  We also focus on nurturing personal development in youth through volunteer service and horsemanship.  We provide a safe, supportive environment where everyone can enjoy horseback riding and learn about horses.

About Volunteering:  All of our volunteers are young people from our community. We will train you on the job and no experience is necessary. You can also learn a lot about horse care and how to safelty handle horses.  Volunteers usually start out as side-walkers, who spot riders while we walk the trail.  Eventually with training, volunteers can become leaders who lead the horses as well.  We do three 30 minute trail rides through O'Hair park in Novato.  It is a great way to enjoy the day outside while helping others and getting some exercise. With the help of our volunteers we will continue to build confidence and create small miracles for children with special needs through the gift of therapeutic horseback riding. Each year we give out volunteer awards in the from of custom made belt buckles for those who gave the most of their time.  If you are interested in joining in the fun, please begin the application process by completing ALL FORMS on our website under the volunteer tab.  All forms are electronic except the application which you can bring with you.  Email any questions to Executive Director, Heather Parker at heatherparker1111@gmail.com. Always double check our facebook page or email Heather to make sure we are open before coming out!
