What We Do:
Founded on the belief that adolescence is a dynamic and challenging time of life, Huckleberry Youth Programs' mission is to educate, inspire, and support underserved youth to develop healthy life choices, to maximize their potential, and to realize their dreams.Since 1967, we have accomplished this by providing San Francisco and Marin youth and their families with a network of services and opportunities provided by caring peers and adults. Core beliefs underlying all our services include respecting and affirming the diversity of our clients, recognizing and understanding the value and dignity of young people and acknowledging their potential to become healthy, responsible adults.
Who We Are:
Huckleberry Youth Programs provides adolescents in San Francisco and Marin with high quality services ranging from prevention to 24-hour crisis intervention, access to comprehensive physical and behavioral health services, juvenile justice/diversion and college access for first generation college bound students. Services in Marin County include:Health education workshops in local middle and high schools around Marin, providing both single and multi-session workshops focused on pregnancy prevention, sexual decision-making, STDs/HIV, and birth control information all within the context of healthy relationships and communication.Teen Tuesday Health Clinic is a drop-in clinic for youth ages 12-21 in collaboration with Marin Community Clinics. Every Tuesday between 1pm and 5pm, youth drop in for reproductive health services (birth control methods, male and female exams, STD/HIV testing, pregnancy testing and pregnancy options counseling), individual health education counseling, psychosocial screenings and linkage to Huckleberry’s mental health and/or drug and alcohol focused counseling services.Individual, group, and family mental health counseling for youth age 12-25 and their families. Our specialties include supporting adolescent youth in their development as well as assisting families experiencing conflict, to allow them to communicate better and ultimately thrive.Substance Abuse Brief Intervention and Treatment for teens and young adults focuses on reducing and eliminating the use of alcohol and drugs. Outpatient treatment is structured over a minimum of three months where youth engage in comprehensive programming, empowering them to change the course of their lives and discover the potential that lives within each of them.Huckleberry's Wellness Academy- a college access program for first generation college bound youth of color. Wellness Academy provides targeted high school students with academic support, college trips, exposure to career opportunities and support to navigate success in high school and achievement in post secondary education.For more information on any of theses programs, please call us at 415-258-4944.
