Organization Profile

Marin County School Volunteers

What We Do:

Marin County School Volunteers (MCSV) enriches student learning by recruiting, training and pairing volunteer tutors with students in Marin public schools.

Who We Are:

MCSV places both adult and student volunteers** in public school classrooms (Pre K - 12) and after school programs at sites throughout Marin County. We have the greatest need in San Rafael, Novato and Sausalito-Marin City School Districts, but offer placements at over 40 schools. Volunteers are needed to provide both 1:1 tutoring and general classroom assistance in both literacy and math. Volunteers can work as little as one hour a week, but most volunteer approximately 3 hours a week. Volunteers apply online; they are required to attend an MCSV Orientation, a screening interview, and a 'Tutoring Essentials training in preparation for their volunteer experience. Additional trainings are required later in their service. ** Student Tutors must be in grades 8-12"
