Marin Stables & Trails

What We Do:

Marin Stables and Trails, Inc. is a non-profit public benefit corporation. We oversee the operation, renovation and preservation of historic Marin Stables, a gateway to Marin Municipal Water District lands on Mount Tamalpias. We also maintain the Canyon and Ethel Moore trailheads, so that public use and access to these popular facilities will continue. Marin Stables and Trials operates under a 30 year lease from the Marin Municipal Water District. We rely upon tax deductible contributions to accomplish our mission.

Who We Are:

We provide a host of public benefits to the people of Marin County and surrounding Bay Area communities, including: Managing, maintaining and preserving historic Marin Stables; Maintaining the Ethel Moore and Canyon trailheads which provide public access to the 25,000 acres of natural open space of the Marin Municipal Water District and adjacent public lands, including Phoenix Lake, Lake Lagunitas, Lake Bon Tempe Lake, Alpine Lake, and Kent Lake; Providing riding lessons and education in horsemanship; Fostering ?green? animal husbandry and stabling practices; Providing public outreach in the form of educational, therapeutic, and mentoring programs for adults and children. These programs have included an equine therapy research program for cancer patients and our annual participation in the Adopt a Family program.
