What We Do:

The Maritime Heritage Project was established in 1998 to preserve the history of San Francisco Bay during the 1800s. The site features news of ships, captains, passengers and goods arriving from around the world. The site is currently being update to follow new internet guidelines for mobile display. Also the passenger lists are being split out with a new web address and new information added to the lists:

Who We Are:

During the 1800s, entrepreneurial shipping companies built huge steamships designed to carry hundreds of passengers and tons of goods. The combination of sail and steam on their vessels made steamers faster than the elegant clippers. The addition of creature comforts, such as hot-and-cold running water, made them more practical.
