Organization Profile

The Plant Exchange

What We Do:

The Plant Exchange is a non-profit (501(c)3) organization which exists to: *Educate the community about the benefits of gardening, conservation and recycling through repurposing and re-use of garden related material. *Promote enthusiasm for gardening for the benefit of local underserved neighborhoods and the environment. *Function as a central clearing house allowing the landscaping industry to donate excess materials to the public that would otherwise go into landfills. *Directly engage in and to provide a facility for the exchange of plants between neighbors to build connections among neighbors. *Sponsor special events connecting the public with landscapers, arborists, and other professionals in the field.

Who We Are:

The Plant Exchange is a dynamic non-profit organization celebrating 10 years and growing quickly. The Plant Exchange is a twice-annual free event where people from all Bay Area counties come together to exchange plants and other gardening related products. Next year we launch a monthly speakers workshop series. The programs and services are made possible thanks to the contribution of thousands of hours of volunteer service, and donations from caring individuals, foundations and businesses.
